6 weeks of pure rugby bliss at the centre of Devon's capital

Despite an early exit from our home side, the 2015 Rugby World Cup proved to be a breathlessly exhilarating example of a game loved all over the world. Cities UK-wide were taken over by tournament fever for most of the autumn months, with Exeter proudly hosting teams such as Tonga and Namibia at the Chief’s ground. As part of it’s ‘Host City’ status, Exeter City Council presented an exciting program of event’s in a purpose built ‘Fanzone’ located right in the heart of the city.

As well as showing fixtures on the big screen, bands and choirs from across the country (and occasionally across the channel) were invited to take to the stage and celebrate the games through musical performance. Delighted crowds were kept fed and watered by a range of top-quality local catering concessions – and of course the Exeter Chief’s Fanzone Bar.

With a tight schedule of acts on the bill, each with differing instrumental and monitoring needs, fast turnarounds were the order of the day. Puxley provided a crack team of engineers, kitted out with rolling risers and other time-savers, in order to hone the switch-over times to just a few minutes per act.

“The Arts and Events Team has worked with Puxley Limited for several years on both small and large scale events in Exeter. Most recently, on the 2015 Rugby World Cup Fanzone in Northernhay Gardens. We have found the company to be reliable and professional, providing excellent sound quality. An effective and organised team, able to deal with complex technical requirements, often from many different artists. I would highly recommend Puxley Limited and we will certainly be working with them in the future”Val Wilson – Arts and Events Manager, Exeter City Council

Public Address was handled by an installation of our d&b audiotechnik loudspeakers and amplifiers, with speaker arrays flown in a line configuration – accompanied by a separate monitor package mixed independently. Puxley provides technical production solutions for sporting events. “Thanks to Craig and team for all your support at the Fanzone in Exeter. Great to know that we were in safe hands, and we look forward to working with you in the future.”Chivenor Military Wives Choir
