Different venues present different challenges, and the temporary ice rink at Canary Wharf raised some unusual ones.
The shape and acoustics of the setting meant a carefully designed system with distributed loudspeakers and multiple delay system was required. There was also limited access to the site and a short timescale for setup and rehearsals – not to mention having to wear ice skates for some of the get in!
The event was the culmination of a documentary filmed by Ten Alps TV for Channel 4 and presented by Harvey Goldsmith. As well as time aligned sound on three sides of the (very reflective) rink, radio systems for vocalists, instrumentalists and in-ear monitoring, we also provided frequency co-ordination for the other crews working on site and individual feeds for the broadcast mix.
